Cast Iron Hitching Post

19th Century in absolutely perfect condition. Made by renowned maker N.E. Butt Co.of Providence, Rhode Island. See makers mark in photos. Overall length is 66” with the exposed portion being 42”. The below grade iron is fully intact as shown. That portion is oftentimes broken off. The post is slightly tapered from 7” to 4” at the top. It is in the classic tree trunk casting.
