18th Century Granite Hitching Post
Eastern Connecticut origin. This post retains its original hand forged curlicue hooking hardware on the top surface. Triangular shaped early quill (cutting) marks are evident (see photos). Subtly tapered from a hefty 8” x 12” at the base to 7” x 11” at the top x 58” overall length. Wonderful lichen and aged surface as should be expected of an artifact of this vintage. This has been in storage for over 20 years.
